Jigs and Fixtures Class Skill Level - Beginner/Intermediate |
||||
In our Woodworking World Jigs and Fixtures are often mistaken for the same thing. By definition, a jigs guide the tool into the wood and fixture guides the wood into the tool. The purpose of this class is four-fold. First to make a woodworking process safer by using either a jig or fixture. Secondly, to speed up a process, thirdly, to increase accuracy and finally to make a process easily repeatable. In this Class we are making 3 specific jigs. One is used with a Plunge Router to make great mortise and tenon joints. The other two are used with the table saw. The first of these is a cross-cut sled which allows cutting small pieces very safely, and the second is a taper jig that allows you to make perfect tapered legs for tables and chairs every time. |
